05Before Your Shoot

Before your shoot.

A short read for the day or two before. Nothing here is homework. It's what makes the session run smoothly.

01

Before the day

  • I'll confirm the exact time and meeting spot after you book. If you don't have both two days out, message me.
  • Pick your outfit ahead of time. One outfit works best for a 30–45 minute session. Wear something you already feel good in.
  • Not sure between options? Send me photos and I'll weigh in.
  • If you have a look in mind, send reference images. Two or three is plenty.
  • Get it ready the night before: steamed or ironed, lint-rolled, shoes clean.
  • Haircuts land better a few days before than the morning of.
02

What to bring

  • A charged phone. We coordinate by text on the day.
  • Water, and a layer if it's cold.
  • Anything for touch-ups: comb, hair product, lip balm, makeup.
  • Accessories or props you want in the photos.
  • As little as possible in your pockets. Phones and keys show.
  • A friend, if that helps you relax. They can hold your things.
03

Arriving

  • Aim to be there 5–10 minutes early, and text me when you're close.
  • There's a 15-minute grace period. Text if you're running behind. Arrive within it and you still get your full session.
  • Anything past 15 minutes comes out of your shooting time.
  • If that would leave less than 15 minutes to shoot, it's treated as a same-day cancellation.
  • If you're not there and I haven't heard from you 15 minutes after the start time, it counts as a no-show.
04

During the shoot

  • You don't need to know how to pose. I direct the whole time: where to stand, how to move, what to do with your hands.
  • The first ten minutes are a warm-up. Everyone loosens up after that.
  • We may walk between a few spots around the same location.
  • I'll show you frames on the camera as we go. If something feels off, say so and we change it.
05

If the weather turns

  • I make the call, usually a few hours before. Overcast and light rain often still shoot well.
  • If it would hurt the shoot, we move it at no charge, and it doesn't count as your one reschedule.
06

If something comes up

  • With at least 24 hours' notice you can reschedule once at no charge, to a date within 30 days, or cancel for a full refund.
  • Same-day cancellations aren't refunded, but you can rebook once for a $30 fee.
07

After the shoot

  • I cut the obvious misses and send a proof gallery with my picks marked.
  • You choose your 5 within 7 days. If I don't hear back, I choose for you.
  • Finished images are delivered digitally 5–7 business days after you choose.
  • Extra edited images are $10 each, or 5 for $50. Two rounds of small revisions are included.
